J. Nicholas Whisonant - York, SC & Buncombe, NC

Can anyone help on this one ... where in Buncombe and what families may have traveled with him. This same John Nicholas Whisenant was in Habersham Co., Ga by 1822?


South Carolina, York District, Deed Book K, No. 515, Page 411, March 6, 1826. Know all men by these presents that I J. Nicholas Whisonant of the State of North Carolina Buncomb County for and in Consideration of the sum of One Hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by Henry Eaters of York District South Carolina the Receipt and payment whereof are hereby Acknowledged have Granted Bargained and Sold Unto the Said Henry Eaters a Certain Tract or parcel of Land Situate in York District South Carolina on Ponders Branch Waters of Kings Creek Beginning at a Sower Wood on the West Side of Said Branch thence West with the State line 40 Chains to a Stake thence South 17 Chains to a Black Jack thence S. 24 Wt 31 Chains to a post Oak thence No 83 Et 44.50 Chains to a pine thence North 18.75 Chains to a Post Oak thence East 3.60 Chains to a Post Oak thence North 14 Chains to a Red Oak thence to the Beginning Containing by Estimation Two Hundred Acres Be the Same More or less Together with all and Singular the Rights Members and Appurtenances belonging to the Same or in any wise Incident or Appertaining And I do hereby for my self my heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns Warrant and for ever defend the above Mentioned premises unto the Said Henry Eaters his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns for ever against my Self my Heirs and Assigns and against Every Other person whomsoever lawfully claiming the same or any part thereof. In Witness Whereof I have Set my name and affixed my Seal the 6th of March in the Year of our Lord 1826.

South Carolina, York District } This day came Henry Eaters before me theSubscribing Justice andmade Oath in due form of Law and Saith he was present and Saw Nicholas Whisonant Sign Seal and deliver the within Deed to Henry Eaters for the use and purpose therein mentioned and that Thomas Carrell was present and Signed his name as a Witness to the Same. Sworn to before me this 8th day of April 1826.
