Carlos, I will have to go back to some old notes, but wanted to at least give you a possible lead.Ransom was a first name used in the Lail family, 1800's Burke and Catawba Co, NC.There were numerous marriage connections between the Lail, Miller, and Whisenhunt families.After the Civil War many family members left NC. Most of my research centers on post-war history, but I will be take a look at which of the families did go to AL.Yes, you are correct that there is a strong and interesting German heritage.Let me know if you think that this might be a lead for you.Take care, Sue
