According to much study on this subject, as Ensign Mark White is an ancestor, Mark White IS NOT a son of Peregrine White, Jr.He was originally WRONGLY placed in this family by Samuel White in a 1895 White Genealogy with hearsay as the only evidence and the fact that he didn't "fit" into any other White family that he was writing about. He never took into consideration that Mark WHite could have been an immigrant to Charlestown, MA before he m. Elisabeth Mousall in Nov 1712 in Charlestown.I have all of the available records including VRs, land records, court records, etc and NONE link Mark White to Peregrine White, Jr.The Mayflower Society threw out this line in 1973 and the National Gen. Soc also. did an extensive check of all the records (many of which I have also checked) and wrote an article (NSGSQ 61 : 243-8) about the fruitless search to show that Peregrine White, Jr. was Mark's father.I and my mother before me, have been trying for 25+ years to find Mark White's parents and have been unable to do so.But this misinformation keeps being offerred on web pages and answers to queries. Many of the older sources like that quoted in the message also have used that White Genealogy as a source back when sources of information weren't questioned.
If anyone can prove that Peregrine White, Jr. WAS ACTUALLY Mark White's father, or who he actually was,I would be very happy to have the information.Thanks.Marg McEuen
