CASPER ( b. 1778 in Germany) and CATHERINE (MATAS) WHITEMAN were natives of
Bavaria, Germany and parents of eight children: MARGUETTE, MICHAEL (d. in Mitchel Co.,
Iowa), ANNA, GEORGE, BARBARA, NICHOLAS, ADAM, and JOHN (d. in Mitchel Co.,
Iowa).

NICHOLAS WHITEMAN, b. 13 JUL 1820 in Bavaria, came to America in 1848, settled in
Franklin Twp., Erie Co., bought a 50 acre farm and was a stone mason and farmer for 22 years until
he moved to Middleboro, Erie Co., PA.

NICHOLAS married MARGARET WINEGART (father is John Winegart) on 1 May 1848. Their
eight children were: LEWIS, b. 20 Feb 1855; WILLIAM, b. 13 Mar 1857; JOSEPH, b. 25 Nov
1859; DANIEL, b. 9 Jan 1862; FRANCES, b. 15 NOV 1864,( m. Fred Brown of Mill Creek
Twp.); FIDELIA, b. 2 Mar 1867,( m. Edward Schuwark of Middleboro); EDWARD, b.3 May
1870; and CLARA, b.19 Aug 1874.
