Andrew Whitenack who married Katie Waldron is the son of Andreas Weidknecht/Whitenack and Cathalyne Waldron, who was the daughter of Frances Bloodgood Waldron and Catherine VAN NUYS (NESS). These Waldron marriages have come from the Waldron researchers.
When the elder Catherine Waldron died in 1776, Andreas Sr. married Marya Hageman in 1778 and went on to have many (perhaps 7) more children before he died in 1815. Andreas and both his wives were born in Hillsborough Twp, Somerset, NJ. Andreas Sr.'s wife Cathalyne Waldron is related to Catherine "Caty" Waldron, the wife of his son, as her Grand Aunt. Cathalyne Waldron's Brother, Francis, is Catherine's grandfather. Andreas Sr. Served in the NJ
Andreas Sr. is the 2nd son of Johannes George Weidknecht, the emmigrant who came to NY from Germany with his parents Andreas and Margaret Erich Weidknecht and his brother Pleichard and sister Anna in 1709-10. Johannes has a long history populating Somerset Co. NJ with his children and grand children. My line descends from his younger son, Hendrick. Andreas Sr. and Hendrick's brother, Cornelius' family bible is housed at Rutger's University archives. The Weidknecht family came from Adelshofen, Baden, Germany, where many of them were "schultheiss" or mayor, magistrate, of this town, had been for many generations before, and many relations continued to hold this office in Adelshofen after Andreas and his family left. Johannes Georg's brother, Pleichard (Bliker, Blakert)Wekdknecht/Whitenack, also has a large family here in New Jersey. These descendents have almost all used the surname Whiteneck, with some families becoming Whitenack. No descendents of Johannes George have used the Whiteneck surname that I have found, but this should be taken as a generalization. Although Johannes and Pleichard were brothers and traveld here wiht their family and settled in nearby areas (NJ) the two families seem not to have had much to do with each other. Many germans in the NJ area in the early 1700's assimilated into the Dutch community through the Dutch Reformed church, and Johannes married a dutch girl Neeltje (last name unknown) and the family spoke both german and dutch. This is likely where the rumors of Holland originated. No Weidknechts have ever been found in Holland. The family is listed in the Kotcherthal records and Simmdinger Lists with the palatines from Germany and their records are found in the church book records in Adelshofen, Baden Germany.
