Jonas Whiteknact's history and possible Walton leads.
Jonas Whitenact 1795-1880 married 6/7/1843 Mary Walton 6/9/1814-7/19/1894. Was born in Sussex New Brunswick, Canada. The son of John Whiteknact(1741-1/19/1841)married Ester Culver 1775-7/1850, who was a "Loyalist" or "Tory".John, a private with the 1st New Jersey Volunteers, landed in Saint John, New Brunswick in 1783, with wife Ester and sister Charity and her husband Ozais Ansley.John Whiteknact was from Morristown, New Jersey and the son of Andres Weidknecht, eldest son of Pleichard Whiteknact. One possible source for the Waltons, if they came from New Brunswick, Canada may be the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick, the site is "archives.gnb.ca" This site lists the vital statistics for 1800-1953.It has much more info. that has not been downloaded on the site but can be accessed through microfisce. They have various census data, tax and land grants etc. Another source of the Jonas Family is the book by Harold Whiteneck. He lists the various family lines which includes the Jonas Whiteknact line.thanks, Roger Whitenect,Saint John,New Brunswick
