March 7, 1785 Elizabeth-Martha and James Matthew, twins of Thomas Jordan and Anne Whitefield, overseers (probably the same as above) Is this Thomas Jordan and Thomas Whitfield, the same person or different men? I'm thinking they are differnet because of the different men they served under.

Matthew Whitfield.Issued for nine pounds five shillings and 11 penny farthing sterling for sundaries for contested & militia use in 1780, 1781, 1783.Is this Matthew Whitfield, son of Luke Whitfield or Matthew, brother of Luke?
In the will of John Greenland, he identifies Mary Greenland as his daughter and William Greenland as his brother.
On March 27, 1777, Matthew Whitfield Jr. agreed to pay to William Greenland as Executor to the Estate of John Greenland....the full and just sum of Eleven Hundred and Fifty pounds. And he further agreed to pay to Willaim Greenland, his heirs ....the just sum of Five hundred and seventy-0five pounds....on or before the first Day of January next which will be in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred & Seventy Eight without fraud or further delay.
Ann Greenland of Craven County--- Will Craven County, SC
Recorded Dec. 11, 1777
In her will she identifies Matthew Whitfield as her grandson and Mary Greenland as her granddaughter.
She identifies William and Thomas as her sons.
She also identifies her daughter Elizabeth as the wife of Robert Cahusac.
On June 1, 1778 it appears that MatthewWhitfield is sueing Robert Cahusac for Ten thousand pounds for the sale of 3 slaves to Robert."Robert Cahusac was attached to answer to Matthew Whitfield administrator of all and singular the goods and chattel rights and credits of Ann Whitfield of Saint Stephens Parish, deceased, ofa plea of ? on the Case and so forth and Thereupon the said Matthew by Jacob Read his Attorney complains that Whereas the Said Matthew on the fourth day of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and seventy eight at Charles Town in the District and State aforesaid and within the jurisdiction of this Court was possesed of three certain Negro Slaves named Nanny, Betty and Mushapha of the value of ten Thousand ------Pounds Current Money of the said State as of his own proper Goods and Chattels and bring thereof possessed casually cost the said three Negro slaves out of his Handa and possession ......"
The copies I have of the Judgements are of poor quality but it appears that Matthew Whitfield, the younger, is deceased by 1789 as is William Greenland.Joseph Logan was the executor of Matthew Whitfield's, the younger, will.Apparently Robert Cahusac is also dead as William Greenlandwas represented by Daniel Cain.
Are these Matthews, father and son or the same man?Did Matthew, brother of Luke Whitfield, marry Anne Greenland, daughter of Ann Greenland and sister to William, Thomas, John and Elizabeth?
If anyone knows anything about these Whitfields, has ideas as to the relationships, or suggestions as to what else I could look for, I'd really appeaciate it.
