Re: Descendants of Joseph Peter and Sarah Ann Simpson Wible
Thanks so much for your reply.I apologize for sending you two messages. I didn't realize I was sending a reply to the same person until after I hit send.
I had been wondering about Joseph Peter Wible being in the Civil War because there were soldiers with the name Joseph Wible from PA, but difficult to figure out where they came from.So I'm glad you gave me the facts about the Wible brothers' Civil War service.
The pension record I saw on-line was one of those cards from the index and the date of death was obscured. So Solomon died in the war?As a result of an injury or illness?Do you have Jacob's record too?Was Joseph Peter drafted and Solomon wasn't so he went in his place?I think the unit Solomon and Jacob were in was a drafted militia unit that only saw 9 months service.
My father-in-law is coming to visit this coming weekend for his 75th birthday, which is also very close to my husband's 50th birthday, and I had hoped to have some information on his Civil War ancestors for him.He is a history buff, especially the Civil War and I thought he would like to hear about any relatives in the War.His mother told him that they didn't have any ancestors in the Civil War, so I guess he never bothered to look. But I thought it was worth looking into anyway just in case.
As I mentioned before, I found his 3ggrandfather John Nichols and thought I would check the remaining possibilities which would be the Wibles, Daniel Truxal/Troxel, one of the Freemans, Johnstons/Johnsons, and Albrights. The problem is there are so many of them in Westmoreland County with the same first name as well as the last, that it's hard to find the right one without the pension or service files from the NARA.
Do you have your photos as computer files?I would love to get photos of Joseph Peter Wible, Catherine Simpson (do you have Sarah?), and Amanda. If they're not in a computer file, I would be happy to pay the expenses involved in copying and mailing them, if that's not too much trouble for you.
I have a photo, I think, of Amanda Wible Truxal as an older woman. The reason I say I think, is that my father-in-law brought a lot of old photos to my house and my husband and I scanned them and labeled them. But for some reason, the labels won't appear. So I'm not 100% sure of everyone's identity.I'm pretty sure that she is the only Wible/Truxal we have a photo of other than Zeta Truxal Nichols.I do think I remember reading on this forum that John Simpson Wible died at Zeta's house.Or was that the funeral was held there?I would be happy to send you the photo/s I have.Do you want me to email them?
Just quickly my husband's line through the Wibles is:John Nichols Sr. + Catherine (Cole in 2nd marriage)> John Nichols Jr. + Sarah Monticue > William Nichols + Eliza Freeman > John H. Nichols + Chloie Johnston > Ralph Nichols + Zeta Truxal > Gladys Nichols + Thomas McDonald Sr then to my in-laws and husband. If you want dates, I'd be happy to send them to you.And as you know Joseph Peter Wible + Sarah Simpson > Amanda Wible + William A. Truxal > Zeta Truxal + Ralph Nichols and so on.
Thanks Mary for the reply!Don't worry if you can't get back to me right away.I understand about having good days and bad days.
