I know this isn't the first time this has been asked, but I'm hoping someone can help out.I am a descendant of Henry and I am trying to find his parents and where they came from.
Here's what I have so far:
Henry Widner (Widener) b. abt 1809 Sevier Co., TN d. 1888 Mercer Co., MO - Celia (Selia) Dodson b. 1 Jun 1815 SC d. 1903 Mercer Co., MO
Martin Widner b. abt 1835 Sevier Co., TN d. 1914 Pine City, Whitman Co., WA - Hannah Hill Swan b. 1841 Bedford, Lawrence Co., IN d. 1898 Pine City, Whitman Co., WA
(John) Gilbert Widner b. 1863 MO d. 1924 Pine City, Whitman Co., WA - Clara B. Hooten b. 1863 IL d. 1928 Pine City, Whitman Co., WA NOTE: John Gilbert also apparently had a wife named Rhoda Ann b. 1866 d. 1883 Whitman Co., WAShe apparently did not have any children and is only known from a headstone at the Pine City Cemetery where she is buried with the rest of the Widners.
Floyd Widner b. abt 1906 Whitman Co., WA d. 17 Mar 1989 King Co., WA - Gudrun Gunderson b. 1908 d. 198?
Dale Eldon Widner b. 1934 d. 2007 Kittitas Co., WA
And then down to me through one more generation.I have heard that Henry had a brother Jacob Widner (Widener) b. abt 1810 in Sevier Co. and that his father was possibly a Michael Widner or Widener of Sevier Co. but I cannot confirm. This Michael Widner (Widener), if he is really Henry's father, should have been born at latest around 1780.
I do know that our original spelling was indeed the original German "Weidner".I do not know when our family first immigrated to the country, or where they immigrated to.Henry left TN and settled in the Ravanna area of Mercer Co., Missouri around 1851.He is the only one of our line who has been referred to as both "Widner" and "Widener".
