s.j.,The only printed documentation I have been able to found is a book published in 1878 entitled "Sketches of Wood County, Its Early History"also a brief accounts of First Settlers and their descendants, by S.C. Shaw, published at Parkersburg, West Va by George Elletson, Job Printer, Court Square, 1878, Reprinted by W. Guy Tetrick, Clarksburg, West Va., Page 59,Mr. Philip Wigal (later known as Senior) and names all the 1st generation descendants except John, as follows:His eldest daughter Margaret (Richard Fortner), The son Jacob removed to Indiana, Second daughter Elizabeth (Peter Sheets), His third son William (notice only mention of one previous son but John would make William the third) single, Catherine, the third daughter (Henry Brookheart) Hockingport, OHio.His fourth son George Wigal (3 months old when they came to Wood County)(Rebecca Sams, Sarah Gill), The fifth son is Daniel Wigal (Matilda Joseph).Barbara Wigal, the fourth daughter (James Sams).Philip Wigal, Jr., the sixth son (Nancy Sheets).Miss Sarah Wigal, the youngest and fifth daughter (John Congrove) moved to Ohio. The research I have done on this first generation descendants has all backed up the book and I haven's found any type of christening records for the sons and daughters born in Wood County, like I did for those born in Westmoreland County PA.I requested the above mentioned book through interlibrary loan and the copy came from the Virginia State Library, but I would imagine a copy of the book can be found in Parkersbug. There were no birth records in Virginia until 1853.I do not believe there are any bible records.I live in Illinois and am a descendant of the daughter Elizabeth Wigal Sheets. If I can be of any assistance, please contact me at [email protected] Sandy
