Rolf de Wigmore
I am not a Wigmore relative, though this name has just come up in my research. I am descended from the Whitney family, and our earliest ancestor was a man named Turstin, who came to England with William the Conqueror. One of Turstin's descendants was granted land in the area known as Whitney, and his descendants took this as their surname.
It appears that another of Turstin's descendants was Rolf de Wigmore, Lord of Lingen. The book by Henry Melville, The Ancestry of John Whitney, 1896, states that this Turstin was also the ancestor of the Wigmore family.
It would probably be very difficult for anyone reading this to be able to proove descent from this individual, but I thought you might enjoy reading about Turstin and Rolf.
