Daniel (Wild, Wilde) Wyld's (d. 1676, York Co., VA) WILL shows no son.
Robert Wild d. bef. 1712 in New Kent Co., Virginia, is shown in Wiles genealogies as being the son of Daniel Wild, planter in York Co.(Precursor to New Kent) d.1676.Daniel's father Robert (d abt 1646) is connected to Daniel in the colonial records. The genealogies then connect Daniel's father Robert to the Robert Wilde who was a clerk of stores in Jamestown in 1610.
Its a nice story, but...
Daniel's will leaves everything (and there is an awful lot) to his daughter Margaret. If she and her husband, John Martin, are unable to inherit, everything is to be divided among kinsmen Nicholas Harrison and his children. There is no mention of a son.
Now, if the Robert who died before 1712, father of Luke Wiles (Wild) (d, 1749 in Lunenberg Co.) was the son of Daniel Wild, one could expect him to have a sizable estate. But, this is not the case. The Vestry book of St. Peter's Parish in New Kent County shows that Mary Wild (mother of Luke) was sick and in poverty and her upkeep and care was being paid for by the Parish the last two years of her life.
So, I have searched in vain for proof that Daniel had a son named Robert but, so far, in vain.Does anyone have any such proof?
