Thanks for your response to my posting on the Wiley Family Forum, which mentioned Nevil Thomas and his wife,Sarah Wiley the sister of my ancestor Zachariah Wiley, who married Elizabeth Mann. Reinterating Sarah Wiley and my Zachariah Wiley were children of Aquilla Wiley and Hannah Warren who immigrated with most of their grown children and their families to Montgomery County, Illinois in the 1820s. Sarah Wiley married Nevil Thomas and as best as I can tell her sister married Nevil Thomas' brother Jesse Thomas. Except for Sarah Wiley's brother Benjamin Wiley who remained in Kentucky, it appears that the other brothers and sisters of Sarah accompanied their parents on their journey north into Montgomery County, Illinois.
I have no information from actual records on Presley Thomas, but I believe that I have seen a posting regarding him that had some information. I do not have the issue of Sarah Wiley born on September 6,1792, in Lincoln County, Kentucky, who married Nevil Thomas on May 19, 1810 in Warren County, Kentucky. Sarah's sister Mary Polly Wiley married Jesse N. Thomas on October 31, 1810, in Warren County, Kentucky.
Hopefully I will be able to make a trip to the libraries in Hillsboro, Illinois and the Montgomery County Genealogy Society library collection kept in the Litchfield, Illinois library. The Thomas information that we are both searching for should be readily available there. It appears as if Jesse Thomas's children were marrying in Macoupin County, Illinois, in the the 1840s and 1850s. I suspect that they must have lived in the northwest corner of Montgomery County or nearby in Macoupin County.Along Interstate 55 south of Springfield, Illinois, just inside the northern limits of Montgomery County there is an enormous old brick mansion known as the "Thomasville Mansion". I suspect that the Thomasville designation will come from Nevil Thomas, Jesse Thomas, or one of their descendants.
I will be in the Newberry Library in Chicago later today or tomorrow. I will search for published books on The Thomas Family. The Montgomery County, Illinois Records will probably have what we both need. I will get there as soon as I can. I am relatively certain that Presley Thomas will be a son of Sarah Wiley making us cousins. All we have to do is document it.Please send me a land address VIA e-mail at my sister's e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include Wiley/Thomas Genealogy in the subject line so the e-mail gets opened.
