from Familytreemaker and probably my research in Springfield, MO Public Library files searched in 1976, I have John D. Lafayette Wiley, the son of Elijah Wiley and Ann Burdine (Waddill), was born Nov 1, 1832 in Cocke Co., TN. (Greene Co. census, etc. records have info)
from "History of Greene County (1883), George J. Wiley is son of Elijah and Ann (Waddill) Wiley, born in Cocke Co., TN on July 27, 1829.His father (meaning Elijah)was a soldier of the War of 1812. It states, they came to Missouri in 1837. (see rootsweb and type in Greene Co., MO) George seems to have stayed in Greene Co. I think.
same article states, his parents, meaning Elijah and Ann, moved to Texas in 1858, where his mother died in 1863 and his father died in 1868.(To me this means they may be listed on the 1860 federal census of Texas but I do not know if I have looked them up?)
I am sorry that I do not have the names of the two sons who served with the Confederacy during the Civil War.I speculate they moved to Texas and served in units from that state? That is likely where the parents moved to in their old age?I would like to know the final resting place of Elijah Wiley.
I would suggest that you write to the Public Library in Springfield and have one of the genealogy workers look up Goodspeed and Greene County History as there is lots and lots of info on the John D. Lafayette "Fate" Wiley and his brother George Jones Wiley. The folks at the library are nice people and they helped me find whatever I needed.Long ago of course.Good luck.
