Archibald, Greenberry, Asa, Martha, & Samuel Wilkinson/Wilkerson- SC to AL
To Vern and Thea:
I believe Archibald is related to our Wilkinson Clan, if not the father, then a close relative:Here's why.I know that my Greenberry Wilkinson bought land in 1837, 1838 and 1841 in Barbour Co., AL.The land purchases are located just two miles east of the Pike-Barbour Co., line, and on the Barbour-Dale Co. border.
The 1837 and 1838 purchasesunder Greenberry Wilkinson names shows up on a land patent, dated 1837, as Berry
Wilkerson, for 80 acres in (T8, R26, Sec 33) and 40 acres adjacent to this 80 acres, in T8,R26E, Sect 34.
Then in 1841, Greenberry Wilkinson shows up again in the same section, but listed as Greensbury Wilkerson, purchasing 40 acres.(T8, R26, Section 33 ).
Greenberry was still alive and living in Barbour Co., AL in 1844, his daughter, Tonia Louisa Wilkinson is my direct line. She was born Oct 1844, Barbour Co., AL.By Oct 1845, Greenberry's widow, Luvenia Dykes remarries, this time to aJames S. Tew, brother to Wallace Tew.
My Tonia Louisa eventually marries her first husband- her first cousin, Zachariah Tew (son of Wallace Tew & Martha Wilkinson). Then Tonia married her second husband, John Jasper Adkison.Tonia's father Greenberry Wilkinson's land purchases are next door to Wallace Tew (husband of Martha Wilkinson-Greenberry's sister) and Asa Wilkinson who is Greenberry's brother.
Even though we know that Greenberry is alive and living in Barbour Co., in 1837 until 1844.He is not listed in any census- not in Barbour, Dale or Pike. That leads me to believe that he was living with an older Wilkinson relative, who would have been listed as head of household.
One possibility is Archibald Wilkinson, who is listed in 1830 Pike Co., AL and 1840 Dale Co., AL
On the 1830 Pike Co., AL Census, pg 35 -ARCHIBALD WILKINSON (Image 57 of 68) is 50-60
yrs old andis listed one page over from John LOW. (Image 55 of 68). My Tonia Louisa Wilkinson is listed in the house of a lady, named Leanna Low,
65ys b. SC in 1860 Barbour Co., AL.
On the 1830 Pike Co., AL Census, pg 30 - is listed WALLACE TEW - This is two and a half pages back -since the pages go in increments of two, to fit all the additional info per household, to include info on slaves, if any) Note:Wallace Tew’s wife is Martha Wilkinson, sister to Asa, Greenberry & Samuel Wilkinson
On the 1830 Pike Co., AL Census, pg 09 - is listed Nathaniel Dykes, father to my Luvenia Dykes (wife of Greenberry Wilkinson), and father to Betsy Dykes (wife of Asa Wilkinson)
On the 1830 Pike Co., AL Census, pg 09 - along with Nathaniel Dykes is Nathaniel's son-in-law,Asa Wilkinson
In 1832, Barbour Co., AL is formed.I show Greenberry Wilkinson has land purchases, in Barbour Co, adjacent to his brother,Asa Wilkinson and his brother-in-law, Wallace Tew.
Nathaniel Dykes land purchases are just 2-3 miles south west of Asa& Greenberry Wilkinson's land purchases, just inside the Dale Co. border.
No sign of Archibald purchasing land, but yet Archibald shows up in 1840 in Dale Co., AL. Census. (Greenberry still does not show up on the 1840 Census - not for Dale, Barbour , Pike or Henry Co., AL)
But in the 1840 - Dale Co., AL Census, on same page as t his Archibald Wilkinson, is my line of Adkison, all sons of Britton Trye Adkison. They are listed all around Archibald Wilkinson.Tonia Louisa Wilkinson's second husband, John Jasper Adkison, is the grandson of Britton Trye Adkison.
So even if Archibald is not the father of my Greenberry Wilkinson, he is most likely a very close relative.
Since my Greenberry Wilkinson died sometime in between 1844-1845, and his widow, Luvenia Dykes, married her neighbor, James S. TEW.I don't know who Greenberry and Luvenia were listed under, but if it was Archibald, then Archibald would have moved on, since Greenberry's widow moved in with her second husband James S. Tew.
Also, since there is a considerable gap between Asa Wilkinson birthdate of 1805 and Greenberry Wilkinson of 1811-1814, there is a strong possibility of other siblings.Martha Wilkinson was born 1814-1815 and Samuel was born in 1816.
Here's what I have on census info for the name Archibald Wilkinson:

Hi Vernon,
Hope things are well since we last spoke.I have been going overthe
census records for Archibald Wilkinson and I just can't make the 1820 Baldwin
Co., GA one fit with the AL one.The children and wife's ages don't fit.
However, the one from SC fits perfectly.Furthermore, I believe I found Archie in
1850 in Santa Rosa Co., FL with my Wilkinsons.I found this reference:
Santa Rosa Co., Fla. 7 Dec 1850; 2nd Div; Geo. D. Fisher, Ass't Marshall,
Page 482.

"Catherine91 FWScotland
His last name isn't spelled correctly, but there were meny errors made by
census takers in those days. The ages fit perfect though, because the 1830 and
1840 AL Archie's wife was about a decade older than him.
Plus there is an Archibald Wilkinson still in Baldwin Co., GA in 1830 listed
with four sons and three daughters.I did not find any Wilkinson's in Baldwin
Co., GA in 1840 though. So I don't know here he ended up.
Talk to you soon,
Thea Gilliam
