Luke Moore published a certificate attesting to his good character which was signed 8 Feb 1799 by the leading citizens of his home county of Wayne, NC (Ref: GENEALOGICIAL MATERIAL FROM LEGAL NOTICES IN EARLY GEORGIA NE3WSPAPERS, by Judge Folks Huxford, pages 205-206).
Luke Moore married Susannah Bowers circa 1779. Luke Moore was living in Washington Co Ga., when he drew land in the 1805 Ga Land Lottery. By 1809 he was in Baldwin Co Ga where his son, Arthur, married Peggy Clower.
"Mrs. Susannah Moore, funeral sermon at house of Evers Wheeler 10-27-1816 by Rev Charles Malone, date of death unknown. From Georgia Journal Oct 1816 (Ref: MARRIAGES & DEATHS 1763-1820, page 81, by Mary Bondurant Warren). Luke married second, Sally Gunn 12 Nov 1817. He died 1 Nov 1819, Baldwin Co Ga. His will named his wife, Sally, and eight children: daughters: Easter Gilbert, Mary Wheeler, Elizabeth E. Willingham, Susan Cousins; sons: Alex, Arthur, Bartholomew and Morris.
Easter Moore married Dury Gilbert, Mary/Polly Moore married Avery Wheeler, Arthur Moore married Peggy Clower, and Susan Moore married ? Cousins.
Elizabeth Moore Willingham, Easter Moore Gilbert and Arthur Moore are all listed in the 1850 or later census as being born in NC.
