Re: Wimberley / ly & Shrum
I am researching Enoch Wimberly (1830-1908) who was born in Warren County April 16, 1830 and died in Douglas County, Oregon on August 8, 1908.
He was raised by foster parents, Nicholas and Delilah (Fine) Shrum, who lived in Camp Branch Township, which is at the northern part of Warren County. Very little is known about Enoch's childhood.
The Shrum family and Enoch left Warren County, Missouri, April 16, 1846, with ox team, to cross the plains to Oregon where he, lived, raised a family and died.
His mother's name was Elizabeth (LNU) Wimberley. She and Enoch Wimberley (1793-1821) had three other children between 1813 and 1820. Elizabeth (LNU) then gave birth to Enoch in 1830 and died; father is unknown. The Shrums assumed guardianship and raised Enoch. Unsure of the relationship between the Shrums and Enoch Wimberly. The Shrums had quite a few children themselves.
The three children born to Elizabeth (LNU) and Enoch (1793-1821) Wimberley were: Elizabeth (b. 1813), Mary (b. 1818) and John (b. 1820).
Would there be any info on his birth, his mother's death, a will, estate sale, etc. Something on the guardianship given to the Shrums?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have a good day!
