Dixie,
I have found a George Winchel/Winchell in my notes. My Winchel line was in Vernon County as well.In fact, the road through the valley where they lived (between Rockton and Ontario) is called Winchel Valley Road.I have not documented the following, it is family recollection and minimal census information. But, it could be a starting point for you.Apparently George was a half-brother to James, Seneca, David and possibly two sisters.James, David and Seneca are found in the Cattaraugus County NY census for the years of 1850 & 1855.James, David and George moved to Vernon County, WI.A cousin I corresponded with seems to think George was born in NY or CT.Again, nothing to document that as yet.I have not researched this line actively, I do not know at this time what the ancestry of these men is.I have a list of The Winchel/Winchells interred at Mt. Tabor, Revels, Burr and Winchel Cemeteries in Vernon County.I don't have the Ontario cemetery listings.Contact me by email if you would like to discuss this in detail.
