Charles Winders b.May 2,1821 in Ohio to James Winders b. 1788 Ohio d. 1834 Jefferson, KY & Catherine Hirschman b. 1782 Hampshire, VA d. 1861 Hamilton Co., IN. Married Catherine Phenis (Fenis) b. 1821 d. 1863 (More about her later.) They had at least 10 children beforeCatherine died 1863.ThenCharles m. Elizabeth Hammond abt 1865. They had at least 6 children.
(Will list all children later.)
There are several Trees on Ancestry with the Phenis family and Winders family--they show James Widners diedin 1834 in Jefferson KY---but I believe that is wrong . There was a James Winders that died then , but he lived in KY all of his life--your James Winders wasb. Ohio and I find a 1840 Census in Ohio with him .
Problem is--there was another James Winders at same time inOhio and his wife was Catherine also--and before 1850 no names were listed except head of household--so they are pretty hard to seperate. And there are James Winders in Ohio from 1820--so I give up trying to go further back.
