John Winford married Jane Franklin 1817 Madison Cty, Al
In the book Tennessee Cousins by Worth Ray...a John Winford, an Old Indian..who was good friends with Andrew Jackson..John Winford resided in the Franklin Co, TN area..and the Paint Rock Valley area of what was and is now Madison County, Al.. John Winford mined salt peter from the caves of the Paint Rock Valey..and supposedly traded with Jackson during the Creek War.. The Franklin family lived on the AL-Tn stateline near New Market, Al.. Elijah Franklin was head of the family..Also, a Michael S Winford married Mary Franklin in 1817 in Madison County, Al.. I believe John Winford moved to Sauta..(Cave..which served as first Countyseat of Jackson Co in 1819)..that is the last record of have of him.. The Franklin's are mentioned in several early Madison County probate records..Does anyone have anything further on this John Winford-the Old Indian who traded with Jackson???
