I have no clue at all where my WINNETT line originated allthough family
tradition passed down to my grandfather(born in 1909) by his
mother(Nancy Ann WINNETT LORANCE - born in 1873) is that the WINNETT ancestor
came from Scotland and was a servant and he ran away at the age of 12 and
all WINNETT's(of Tennessee) came from him.
The record of Thomas WINNETT who had to do servitude to pay for his
passage to Anne Arundel Co.,MD. in 1667 does'nt mention where he came
from or how old he was, but he is the oldest known recorded WINNETT in
what bacame the U.S.A. and his having to do servitude matches the family
tradition passed down to the WINNETT's of TN.
Hope this helps,
Nathan
jeff winnett

Check this link out as it might help you understand why I don't think
the PA. / OH. /& IL. WINNETT's are related to the MD. / N.C. / TN. /
KY. / GA. / AL. /& MS.{migration States from MD.} WINNETT's...
http://genforum.genealogy.com/winnett/messages/23.htmlhttp://genforum.genealogy.com/winnett/messages/23.html
Norman WINNETT(c1783-after 1860) and his decendants have pretty much
been well documented, but his ancestors are still eluscive as yet.
I hoe this helps,
Nathan

HMM
My Winnett's start in PA. filter down thru Ohio then to Illinois. I
figure they allhave to be related somehow we just need to find the
right link..In searching thru my notes William Winnett b. abt 1734 had 4
children William Winnett Jr which is where i descend from 2 dau's Amy
and Sarah, then another son Jonothan Winnett who all his descendants all
travel abt the same route. With a couple of exceptions One of
Jonothan's descendants went to Montana. Its just gunna take some time.
Keep in touch
Jeff

I don't have any "hard evidance" as yet, but enough circumstantial
evidance seems to point to Mark WINNETT as the father of Norman WINNETT.
Now the following is not entirealy prooven, but it is how I at this
time believe the family of Mark WINNETT is...
MARK WINNOTT / WINNETT
BORN: ___ _____ 17____[before 1721] in [St. Mary's Co.,MD.]
DIED: ___ _____ 1______[after NOV. 03,1742] in [St. Mary's Co.,MD.]
MARRIED: ___ _____ 17____[before 1746] in [St. Mary's Co.,MD.] to
__________________ _________________________(17____-1_____).
[Possable children are...]
[1] Violetta WINNETT
BORN: ___ _____ 17____[before 1748] in [St. Mary's Co.,MD.]
DIED: ___ _____ 17_____[before JAN. 16,1799] in Charles Co.,MD.
MARRIED: ___ _____ 17____[before 1760] in [Charles Co.,MD.] to John

[2] [some say it's Jane while others sugest it's Elizabeth] WINNETT
BORN: ___ _____ 17____[before 1764 / (c1756)] in [Charles Co.,MD.]
DIED: ___ _____ 1______[after SEP. 09,1790] in Franklin Co.,VA.
MARRIED: ___ _____ 177__[c1776] in [Prince George's or Charles

[3] Mark WINNETT (Jr.)
BORN: ___ _____ 17____[before 1748] in [St. Mary's Co.,MD.]

MARRIED: ___ _____ 17____[before 1774] in [Charles Co.,MD.] to
____________________ _________________________(17____-1_____).
Now the following is how I believe the family (children) of Mark
WINNETT (Jr.) is (are), but agin no "hard evidance" as yet...
[1] John WINANT / WINET / varients also include WYNANT & WENANT
BORN: ___ _____ 17____[before 1775] in [Charles Co.,MD.]
DIED: ___ _____ 181__[after 1811, but before AUG. 11,1814] in Madison
