Re: Johann Jacob Wisinger, Bavaria to S.
Clydene, the Matthias you are referring to is Matthäus Wössinger who immigrated from Baden, Germany via Rotterdam to Charlestown, South Carolina in 1752 on the ship Snow Rowland. Mathias got a grant of two hundred and fifty acres Nov. 27, 1752 and settled in the Saxe-Gotha District, in Dutch Fork (now Lexington County) N. of Lexington, between the Broad and Saluda Rivers.
Matthias was married to Margaretha Siebler and they left for America in 1752 with 4 children: Johann Michael, Matthias, Margaretha (who did not survive the trip) and Anna Catharina. They also had one more child in SC, Jacob.
Detail of this family can be seen at http://www.dutchforkchapter.org/html/wessinger.htmlhttp://www.dutchforkchapter.org/html/wessinger.html
