This part is the translation from German to English of the Wittekind Family Book.
In the year 972, Emperor and ruler of all German domains and foreign german republics and states "Konig Karl der Grosse aus der Deutschland" or King Karl the Great" of all Germany and it's states, decreed that the Family name Wittekind be given or change as seen fit under his official ruling.The name Wittekind was first used and given by decree to a Royal family "Graf-Count Immed IV" ober Bayern- of upper Bavaria.
The family name of Wittekind was first used in the northern part of Germany near- Marburg-Kassel or Cassel. In the year 1399, Johannes (John) Wittekind from Wurttemberg, moved his family to Frankfurt-am-Main, there by giving the name Wittekind a family heir in the north, south, east and west Germany.
In the year 1522 Herman Wittekind who was a Professor of Mathmatics at Heidelberg University set a plan that each second son enrolled in the family plan for a better education and have a profession, each second son of each Wittekind generation was to attend at least four to six years at Heidelberg University in Heidelberg Rheinland, germany.
Professor Herman Wittekind died in May 20, 1603. and is buried in the Heidelberg University courtyard cemetery in Heidelberg .
For 300 years, the family name of Wittekind turned out Professors of Mathmatics, Professors of medical science, Doctors of Law and Mayors of 17 towns plus many other outstanding degrees of famous reputation, but in 1830 this would all change.In the year 1812 Imperial Germany signed a non-aggression pact with Emperor Joseph Napolian Bonaparte of France. This treaty had all german sons loyal bearers and soldiers of the French Republic.So after the defeat of Napolian Bonaparte against Czarist Imperial Russia, a 30 year war broke out in Germany causing most students to officially join the German Imperial Army.In this 30 years war many Wittekind family sons fought bravely on the sides of government against states opposition.
For the Wittekind Family, the German Imperial Congress bestowed an official coat of arms with shield.The coat of arms has a 6 pointed star for Valor and Bravery and a full grown oak tree representing strength and endurance.This presentation was made in Berlin on June 20, 1865.The honorable presentation was made by "Field Marshall von Hindenburg" Reichs State Military Minister for the Wehrmacht (German Army) to the Wittekind Family.
This family history of the family Wittekind who copied and translated it from the books and church records and family history papers and state goverment records by the late head school master (principal of administration) Professor Doctor Herman Wittekind from the town of Buedingen and from his family history publication of 1912.
All records and papers from the book "Familien= Stammbuch" are true and actually recorded by the "Reichs gesl??)(Imperial State Governments) minister of records in Berlin and dated Feb. 6, 1875.
In the year of 1876 on the 1st of January, all Prussian Monarch's of deutche, (german) Royality are now hereby entered into the " Deutsche Reich" or the "Imperial German Government" archives in Berlin, Free State of Frankfurt-am-main and Koln (Cologne)The records of each birth, conformation, marriage and deaths are entered into these this book of the family of Wittekind.
Of this famous family name of Wittekind, the most honored and decorated was the Royal Prussion Military Hussers.
The "Royal Imperial Hussers"were made of fine strict Prussian Military dicipline, courage, and bravery on all fields of battle and war and recieved many degrees of honor and Imperial decorations.
The "Royal German Imperial Hussers" of Prussia were made up of the elite advance guard lancers calvery of 1500 divisions, each division had 5000 men, the Imperial artillary consisting of 21,000 cannons, 800,000 sabor calvery, 7 milllion infantry.Of these, 396 men of the Royal Imperial name of Wittekind served .All 396 men of the Wittekind family recieved 492 "German Imperial Royal Hussers" of Prussia military decorations for honor, bravery and valor as recored in the " Berlin Imperial Archives".
Of this it is said " A Loyal family to be proud of".

The following is an account on Herrn: Professor Dr. Karl Rudolph von Wittekind of the town of Kassel. Wittekind at this time of state a royal decree and a reconition of the Royal Prussian Monarch of Otto Von Bismark for the german state government and royal accadamy of Prussian Royal Lancers.Professor Dr. Karl Rudolph von Wittekind was born in Kassel on Rhine on Feb. 19, 1823. In 1843 he was granted a Reich Stadt scholarship at the university of Berlin by the Imperial German Government of Berlin and of the free Stadt of the city of Frankfurt. Professor Dr. Karl. R. Wittekind remained there until May of 1849.
In August 1846, Herrn Professor asked and was granted permission to marry one Wileminna Hilda von Schonehauser aus Prussia, as a Baroness and he Professor of Royal decent and a Baron of Cassel, a grant had to be given by the Emperor of all the German States, the Honorable, His Majesty, The Imperial Emperor of Prussia and of the Deutsches Reich, Kaiser von Wilheim II of Prussia.
