Re: Cont.......WITTEKIND HISTORY
My mom's aunt and cousin went to Germany back in the early 1970's looking for relatives and the Wittekind castle and recieved a copy of the Book. It is actually only 26 pages total, not really a "book".I am still trying to find my mom's cousin to get more info from her. No one that is alive today can tell me all the info she found while visiting Germany so I am searching for her and hope to find her before she is gone too. I know where she lives and had a phone # and called but haven't heard anything back yet and it's been over a month,, so.......???
I sent out several copies to other people of the Wittekind family and I could send one to you. It's quite interesting. It is of my direct lines which stretch out with many branches :+).I wrote to Carolyn from the message board and she is also related to Nicholas as you might have read already on the board.I just hope she gets my email and hasn't changed emails.I told her also that I have a Nicholas in my line born in 1764 or close to it, I can't remember and I do not have my notes in front of me, but he may very well be related to your Nicholas, I recently found out that some of my relatives moved from the Nj. Pa. NY, area to ILL and also NE.One of which is Otto Wittekind who went to live with his daughter and family in Chicago, his son also lived there,, the daughter was an editor with the newspaper there, she moved from NY. My living family did not even know this, I found him in the census in Chicago , adams co.You can email me your address and I will send you a copy of the book. My email is Kitara38@yahoo.comOne other interesting thing is that a lot of what is in that book may not be around any longer due to all the wars with Germany and many records were distroyed then.I am not sure though, I haven't searched in Germany that much. :+)
Take care and talk to you soon.
