Re: Cont.......OTTO WITTEKIND
All right you two!Quit talking about me behind my back. LOL
Allen is my mother's first cousin.Jess, we have met at the family reunions, although I'm not attending the one in Idaho next week. When Allen came down to Monterey, CA a few years back, he brough some of Peggy's research to share with me.That's where I got the clues that enabled me to continue her research. How about the three of us sharing our information.I don't go back any further than Tobias yet, but I'm gaining ground with finding his children and their children on the census records and other documents.
I also recall Peggy mentioning an Otto Wittekind at one of the reunions but I don't recall what she said about him or how he was related. It could be that she had also found him on a census record and wondered if anyone in the family knew how he was related.
I found Otto Wittekind with his wife, Elsie, son Frederick and son, Otto on the 1910 U. S. Federal Census. They were living at 681 ?an Nest Ave. in the 40th pct. additon 32 of the Bourough of the Bronx, NYC, NY in ED 1474, 4/24/1910 on sheet 9b, Pg 9b on Lines 83-86. Roll 998 Book 2 of the census.
Otto & Elsie's son, Otto and his wife Myrtle can be found on the 1920 U. S. Federal Census, living in the Webb household at 5546 South Peoria St. Ward 31, Chicago, Cook Co., IL.ED 1885, 1/8/1920, Sheet 8b, Pg 198b, Lines 52-53Roll 348 Book 1 of the census.
I found the whole family living together at 1454 Rosemont Ave., Chicago, Ward 45, Block 10, Cook Co., IL ED 1874 4/4/1930 Sheet 1a, Pg 202a, Lines 5-12 on Roll 493 Book 2 of the U. S. Federal Census.Anna (Wittekind) with her husband Charles Johnson?/Johansen?/Holmann? (can't read the surname on the census) who is listed as Head of the household, and their son, Carl, Otto Wittekind, widowed father-in-law, Fred is the brother-in-law.Otto Wittekind listed as head of household, his wife Myrtle and their son Werner are listed as the 2nd family in the household.
Any clues about their connection to our branch?
