Re: Woodliefs in Virginia
After posting my previous follow-up message, I was looking at the Woodlief genealogy of John Frederick Dorman in the 4th Edition of "Adventurers of Purse and Person."On page 710 he lists Joseph Woodlief, son of Edward Woodlief, Sr.As issue of Joseph he writes, "(possibly) Thomas of Prince George County, devised land by Edward Woodlief [Jr. son of Edward, Sr.], married Elizabeth ____."The Elizabeth mentioned here was the wife of Thomas Woodlief and the mother of his son Edward.Elizabeth was not Edwards wife.In a footnote, Dorman cites the Bristol Parish Register as recording the birth of Joseph and Elizabeth's son Edward on 9. Nov. 1742.1742 is a late date for Edward son of Joseph to fit into your genealogy. He would probably not have produced any offspring before about 1762.
