Re: Woodlocks in Queensland
Hello Diana - well what a surprise. I haven't checked this website for a long so apologies for not getting back to your response. It is just amazing to know that there are others in the same Woodlock line as myself. Alice was my great grandmother. Her daughter Maud Weston (married Anderson - a Finn). I am one of Maud's granddaughter. Fortunely my mother and grandmother often spoke about their families when I was you so I have been able to recall a little. Alice died in 1954 (2 months before I was born, Maud died in 1964 and my mother died quite young and unexpededly in 1967). I inherited a few photos etc from my mum, whihc I think actually belinged to Mimie. Mimie spent some of her last days living with Maud (I think they had a strong Aunt niece reln).
I had heard of Mimie, May and Alf but never heard the names of the others in conversation - I also was under the impression that Alice was the only one who married so just assumed there were no other relations through that line - what a thrill to find out I was mistake.
Do you know th order of the children? I always though Alice was first born? Do you know much about the millinery business the Woodlock's had and of there old home "Wollahra" at Montpellier Rd Bowen Hills, which I am sure no longer exists.
Anyhow I hope you seethis posting and we can 'talk' some more.
