Woodworths of Chester/Cheshire

By Ronald Evans March 18, 2002 at 12:49:44

My wife's father was Thomas Woodworth, born in Chester 1904.He was part of a quite large family grouping of Woodworths living in Handbridge, mostly associated for years with salmon fishing and the operation of boats on the River Dee. We have traced back through his grandfather William (1844, Chester) to his father William, who moved to Chester from his birthplace (1803) in Daresbury (Runcorn, Cheshire). At that time, the name changed from Woodward, with generations of the family being baptized in Frodsham, Cheshire, from about 1586 onwards. From 1800 onwards, we have details of occupations, residence and children; these can be viewed on http://galliform.bhs.mq.edu.au/evans.htmlhttp://galliform.bhs.mq.edu.au/evans.html by navigating "Index Cards" appropriately.
