Alfred Marshall m Hannah Woody- Indiana
Found a new relative, via genforum, and she has shared manual documentation from birth certificates, funeral homes, cemeteries, and the Rockville Courthouse (W of Indy on 36).
(Mary) Elizabeth Marshall, b March 23, 1850 in Howard Co, IN (around Kokomo, IN) and died April 3, 1886 (36 years old) in Bloomingdale, Parke Co, IN. Some documents show Elizabeth, but Mary was her first name. Her parents are Alfred Marshall and Hannah Woody - they lived in Howard Co, around Hannah Amanda's birth approx , before returning to Bloomingdale, IN. Hannah Woody's family was of the Quaker belief - but there were marriages outside the faith, so the Quaker society did not accept their marriages in records.
Newnam is the correct spelling per my grandmother's living aunt, Hannah Amanda's youngest daughter, so it is not Newman as per some records.Stephen H. Newnam b Nov 2, 1850 in Amo, Hendricks Co, IN and married (Mary) Elizabeth Marshall (His first wife - I don't know others yet) on Sep 15, 1870 in Bloomingdale, Parke Co, IN. Stephen and Elizabeth had 7 children, 1. Oliver T b 11/24/1869, 2. Omer C (her line), b 6/11/1873, 3. Hannah Amanda (my line), b 4/22/1875, 4. Maggie A 11/18/1877, 5. Mary Eva, b 1/11/1879, 6. Emma, b 2/13/1883, (she was a nurse), 7. Frank, 9/8/1884. Stephen died May 3, 1920 in Bloomingdale, Parke Co, IN and is buried in Mill Creek Cemetery in Danville, IN.
Stephen's parents were John C Newnam and Hannah Harlan. The documents only show their names, but this relative is continuing the search for more info. John and Hannah Newnam lived close to Danville, IN.
