Re: Talton Woodie of SC born 1753
I am also a Woody descendant of William & Sarah through William, Jr (brother of your Tarlton). Some of the children you mention as being of William, Sr are actually the children of William, Jr.
William, Jr.'s daughter, Kizziah J. Woody married a Woody cousin, named William (are you confused yet?) These are my direct ancestors. Kissy had both a brother & a son named Achilles "Killis" Woody (not real original, were they?) Will & Kissy had six children. Kissy has a spot up on the mountains near Del Rio, Cocke Co., TN called Kizzie Patch. This is where she died at the age of 100.
Kissy & William had a daughter named Rhoda who married twice; once to a guy with the last name of Hipp & my ancestor, Abraham Roland of SC. Abe & Rhoda had eight children together (there were others from other unions). Their youngest daughter was my Great Great Grandmother, Debbie Caroline Roland. She married David Gentry from Madison Co., NC (David's brother was Jasper Newton Gentry's brother, husband of the famous ballad singer, Jane Hicks Gentry).
My point is that it is so terribly confusing trying to sort out various family members when they all have the same first name & belong to the same generation. ;-)
