I am now working on the theory that Richard Worrell who died age 36 in 1823 Marengo County may be the brother Of Wm Wesley J. Worrell, 1811- est 1870-77 Perry County AL.
Richard was married 8 May 1806 in Elbert co, GA to Lucy Hammond.According to Orphan court Records, they appear to have had two children with names William and Franklin.
On May 30, 1824, Lucy married Benjamin Suddeth in Marengo County.Benjamin must have sued for custody of the Worrell children and that is how the case came into Orphans Court.
My theory that Richard Worrell may have been a brother of Wm Wesley is based on a record that says Benjamin and Lucy Worrell Suddeth were looking for the son of Wesley J. Worrell, namely John R. Wesley Worrell,
"http://www.allsleuths.com/nf/0353.alabama.html In Perry County the court collects filing fees from all cases and Lucy and Benjamin are the two named in the orphan court records as seeking John R. Wesley WORRELL was born on 28 Mar 1849 in Perry County, Alabama."
Also in the Marengo County court records, I surfed onto this: "http://www.allsleuths.com/nf/0346.alabama.html A few of the deeds and indentures were apparently part of estate cases. Lucy Worrell married Benjamin Suddeth in Marengo County in 1824. Lucy and Benjamin are the two named in the orphan court records as seeking guardianship of Thus, ... "I think Thus is probably a typo meaning Thos or Thomas.
I believe that Richard Worrell had a will ... Will A 1820-1864 p. 69-78 ... filed at the Marengo COunty Courthouse. If anyone has a copy of this will I would appreciate the info.
If Richard Worrell is the brother of Wesley J. Worrell then I may have, at last, found the parents of Wesley also.
It is my understanding at this point, that Richard's father was Amos Worrell(1765) who was married Lucy whitlock.
