Re: Wrankmores - West Hartlepool
Information gleaned from a letter from my aunt, Nina Brooking Hoagland Cavaliere (1) Koranye (2), daughter of Lucie Emmeline Harrison Hoagland, granddaughter of Brooking Alfred Wrankmore Harrison and from New Shoreham Census Return 1841and New Shoreham Census Return 1861 (on New Road) and from New Shoreham Registers 1566-1837 with a little help from the IGI (Latter Day Saints records):
Charles Glyde Wrankmore born about 1792 Exeter, Devon, England, christened 17 October 1791 St Thomas the Apostle, Exeter and son of George Crosby Wrankmore and his wife Catherine (from IGI records), married Jane Buter (daughter of John Butler and Mary Boyce) 2 May 1825 New Shoreham, Sussex, England.Jane Butler born 1 January 1800 New Shoreham.1861 census lists Charles as superannuated customs office in London.Children:
Sabina Wrankmore born 10 March 1827 New Shoreham, christened 13 March 1827 New Shoreham. She married a Twiss.
George Butler Wrankmore (twin) born 12 June 1828 New Shoreham, christened 3 August 1828 New Shoreham.
I also have notes on John Butler/Mary Boyce family but I am unsure of any of it until some of the above is confirmed. It seems that family surnames have often been used as middle names. This may be a tradition of Devon/Cornwall families. Many of my ancestors were Dutch and had a system for naming their children that included something along the lines of naming the first son after the mother's father and the second son after the father's father.Itis a blessing in family research when you need some clues.I made a trip to England about 10 years ago and was able to purchase the 1861 and 1881 census for New Shoreham.I took notes from the 1841 census since it was sold out.I hope all of this will be helpful and will be happy to look at the Butlers in the census records I have whenever you want.Hopefully, you will be able to make a trip to the Shoreham area sometime.

Mary Roberts Wrankmore christened 20 January 1833 New Shoreham. She married Alfred English, owner of the "famous" English's Oyster Bar in Brighton, Sussex. In 1861 he is listed as a sail and flag maker born New Shoreham.

Victoria Sarah Wrankmore christened 9 July 1837 Rotherhythe or New Shoreham, married Brooking Baylay Harrison 4 April 1858, St. Giles, Camberwell, Surrey, died 31 March 1923 Shoreham.1861 census lists "husband in an asylum" and also lists son Brooking Alfred Harrison.
