Bonnie - 13 years late; my apology. You are correct - and probably by now have the information - that Joseph A Wright was the son of Philbert Wright 1800 & Nancy Frey.If you subscribe to ancestry.com, you can find Joseph here - http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/11540201/person/-135873754http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/11540201/person/-135873754 - inclusive of Catherine and their children [some incomplete] and 2nd wife, Mary Hathaway [no children]
After 13 years, Philbert parents have not been found.I still show him as an 'orphan', but have a theory that may or may not be accurate.
The only other Wright from NC in Green Co. was Rev. Richard Wright, son of Benjamin Wright, Sr. and Barbara Morgan.Benjamin was the son of Richard Wright, Sr.
Rev. Richard married Elizabeth Hughes abt 1800 in Randolph Co., NC.Elizabeth died after the 1830 census in Greene Co. and before May 1834, when Rev. Wright remarried. Her exact date of death and burial is still unknown to me.
Rev. Wright [b. 15 Jun 1783, Randolph County, NC; died 1843, Greene County Indiana, accidently killed. He left no will, nor have I been able to find any estate document that named his children. However, some of his children - from other legal documents [censuses, etc] have been found through various censuses and some old books. In the 1830 census I found the family consisted of 13 people - 11 children and 2 adults, so Elizabeth was still living.
I have been able to identify the children as follows
Unknown Wright 1802 –
Unknown Wright 1804 –
Jeremiah Wright 1810 – 1890
Jane Wright 1812 –
Elizabeth Wright 1814 –
Celia Wright 1816 – 1870
Sarah Wright 1818 –
Hiram Wright 1819 –
Martha Wright 1821 – 1868
James Wright 1825 – 1906
Unknown Wright 1826 – 1890
The unknown children were 'gauged' by birth of other known children; hardly scientific, but use of the censuses was helpful.
Looking at inhabitants in the Fry/Frey Cemetery, it appears all the Wright's are related. Most are of the family of James and Delilah Wright.
Philbert [1800/02] is there as well, but not Nancy that I can find, unless she remarried. I've felt that he is a very likely son of Rev. Wright. At best, the relationship is circumstantial, but the puzzle pieces fit - in Greene County at the same time; though it may sound odd, I can't find any other members of this Wright line that stayed there.Other Wright family member are located in other counties sufficiently far enough away and - based on their own children's birth- don't make for likely candidates.
I have often seen Philbert 1800 as the son of Philbert Wright, b. 1768; d. 1855.I don't believe he is - for the fact that PW1768 - the son of Richard Wright, Sr. - specifically named all his children in his will. There is not a Philbert among them!Four sons and eight daughters are shown as heirs to his estate. The PW1800 was still living until 10 years later.Plus:They never [according to various censuses] lived in the same county.
Perhaps this hasn't helped, but maybe - it might give some room for consideration.
Richard Wright, Sr. is my 3rd GGF [2nd wife, Caroline Kittrell].Their daughter, Mary Ann is my GGM.
If, in the interim, you've found information on PW1800, please let me know. There's nothing worse than being a Wright 'orphan'.
