Ebay Item #495488872

A group of 16 items, 2 folded letters and 14 letters (no covers) to, from and about one Samuel S. Wyckoff. He was a merchant and local Politician. He was into shipping and even had a ship named after him, which he had no ownership in. The letters are very interesting showing the times and lives of the people of this period in relationship of Wyckoff. There are many political references in the letters including one to ask for his help in getting a position. There is talk of an outbreak of chorea in the South at this time. Just a great group of letters for the reading to get into the way business and life was lived during the first half of the 19th century. Would be wonderful reading for any historian of the New York area.
