This Thomas Worsham who married Elizabeth "Betsy" Wynne was a son of Joshua Worsham (1715-1771).Joshua's mother was Mary Wynne.Long before the 25-acre town of Danville was established in 1793, Joshua bought land across the "Great Falls of Dan River."He began buying land on the north side of what is now the Main Street Bridge in 1761, while this area was still a part of Halifax County.

In 1769, Joshua Worsham built a water-powered grist mill just above the ford.I have never seen a record of a ferry. The first bridge seems to have been built in 1801.Joshua owned 437 acres north of Dan River from near the Union Street Bridge down stream below Fall Creek. His land was equally divided between sons Thomas Worsham (western half with the mill) and William Worsham (eastern half with the family grave yard). Each received 218 1/2 acres.

Col. William Wynne built a grist mill on Rutledge's Creek which was in operation in 1754.
