Lucey Zachary circa 1816
The Powers Museum of Carthage, MO is looking for information on Lucey Zachary who would have been living circa 1816 [?where] to document a historic bedcovering held in the museum's collections. It is a hand-woven broadcloth bed covering with elaborate embroidery."Lucey Zachary A D 1816" is embroidered at the top of the covering and according to family tradition, this bed covering passed into the Birkhead family who eventually came to Carthage MO (lawyer Frank Birkhead specifically) early in the 20th century. We would like to verify the creator of this piece and document other Birkhead family oral traditions connected to this person/item (ie. possible relative to President Taylor, et al).Thank you in advance for any research leads/information.
