Re: ZACHRY/ZACHERY & OVERBY/OVERBAY CEM. in GA
I do have a line of ZACHARY in GA. I do not know if mine connect to those yet - but tried to post a note here & one to a Jerry Haire who has/had a website w/ZACHRYs, thinking he might possibly have some info on ZACHRYs in that area. I have not heard anything back from him, nor did I receive a bounce on the private note I sent to him - just haven't heard from him or anyone else until your note, Judy.
I also believe the site should be undisturbed as there is no way of knowing if there will be unmarked graves or graves where wooden markers have rotted away or simple stone markers removed - all w/remains that will overlooked.
There are several graves in the Tucker area of Dekalb Co that have been left undisturbed so if that can be done in one area, why not in others? On US Hwy 29 at the Dekalb-Gwinnett line there are 2 cemeteries on each side of the road that have been left. Also, off Brockett Road in Tucker, in behind a cluster home development, there is a fairly large cemetery w/Revolutionary Soldier's grave & Civil War soldier's graves & graves of several of the pioneer Tucker families that are being maintained by a minister who lived in one of the homes at the time I visited them...
My line of ZACHARY/ZACHRY:
PETER ZACHARY, RS had Deed signed in June 1795 & recorded Nov 1795 in Columbia Co, GA. His Will was signed Nov 1797 & probated Feb 1798 in Columbia Co, GA.
PETER ZACHARY & wife, MARY _____ had dau MARY (ZACHARY) who was probable wife of THOMAS WARD. THOMAS WARD was deceased before 1814 when JOHN LOVEJOY was noted as executor of estate of THOMAS WARD.
JOHN LOVEJOY was b ca 1771, son of EDWARD LOVEJOY & JEMIMA (MOBLEY). These LOVEJOYs were in Jackson Co, GA when EDWARD LOVEJOY died. JOHN LOVEJOY mar POLLY (WARD) who many think is the dau of PETER ZACHARY & later widow of THOMAS WARD. After JOHN LOVEJOY & POLLY (WARD) were married, they moved down into Henry Co, GA.
Please keep me informed as this progresses, Judy & thanks for your note.
