I'm researching for my mother Juanita, who's husbands sister in law is descendant of a Zahn came from Prussia in abt mid 1700's to Pennsylvania, PA area.
He had children:(1) John Zahn b. Philadelphia, PA b. ?, m. Mary Magdaline Strock b. 1777 in York Co., PA.His siblings are as follows:(2) Hershey Zahn b. ? Philadelphia, PA, and another sibling (3) Daniel Zahn b. ? Philadelphia, PA.
The (1)John Zahn who married Mary Magdaline Strock moved after giving birth to some children, to Augusta, VA. Their children were: (1)Joseph Zahn b. 1803; (2)John Zahn b. 27 Apr 1804; (3)Elizabeth Zahn b. 1806; (4) Henry Zahn b. 1808; (5)Catherine Zahn b. 1809; (6) Mary Zahn b. abt 1809; (7) Charles Wesley Zahn b. 9 Nov 1811 in Augusta Co., VA m. Lydia Hoover b. abt 1815 near Wolfesville, Frederick County, MD d/o Jacob Hoover; (8) Nancy Jane Zahn b. 1814 in Augusta Co., VA and (9) Sarah/Susan Zahn b. 1816.
A son of (7) Charles Wesley Zahn, William C. Zahn b. 28 Oct 1837 wrote all this down, but unfortunately some dates, like b. and d. of John Zahn b. Philadelphia who m. Mary Magdaline Strock were not included or not known at time info was written down.If you think this is your "John" line then perhaps the clue is where we need to search, being Philadelphia, PA where born, and the place his descendant Zahn (first name unknown) came to from Prussia. He moved to Augusta, VA; which back then a very large geographic area, and now other counties, and perhaps still Augusta or another county in new state of WV.Since wife born in Frederick Co., MD then perhaps not far from that area, being near the VA, MD, WV boarder, and not far from PA boarder too.Augusta County or District covered PA south of Allegheny River, almost all of what is now WV.WV became a state in 1863.
