I notice you've been waiting a long while for an answer to your inquiry about Fredrick Zahnow of Sanginaw. My bit of information will probably be nothing new to you, but here it is: Several Zahnow families from Prussian villages emigrated to the U.S. about the middle of the 1800s. Many families settled first in Western N.Y. State, forming villages there as much like those they left as they could make them, often with a minister (Lutheran) who had traveled with them. As the villages in N.Y. became crowded and the land scarce, they migrated West.My Zahnow family moved to Central IL, and, as always, their church home there provided good records. (Discovering my "cousins" has been a great adventure.)Other groups migrated to Wisconsin and to Michigan--and to other places as well. This may be of some help to you.
