Juan De Onate, the Spanish explorer, sailed to the New World with a religious advisor named Isadore Zambrano. Isadore was from Spain but had Italian roots. He actually was from Genoa, what is now Northern Italy.Where many Zambranos still live to this day.

Genoa is where Christopher Columbus was from too.Columbus had strong ties to Spain.It was Queen Isabella of Spain who financed Columbus' maiden voyage to the New World.Many Zambranos were granted access on future voyages based the connection between Genoa and Spain.
