Isaac Medbury (b. October 13, 1724, d. December 11, 1797)

Note: He lived in Scituate, RI. Served in Revolutionary War. Called Capt. 1778. In summer of 1794 he moved to Chenango Co. NY with children and grandchildren. Settled in New Berlin, three miles west of Unadilla River, on what was know as the Great Brook. The area was a wilderness then, and he and sons cleared land for their homes and farms. Isaac was killed by a fall from a load of straw, and his grave was the first in the new family cemetery. His wife, Lydia, was a woman of great power and character. Many anecdotes are told of her peculiarities. At age 95 she rode horseback from New Berlin to Cooperstown, a distance of more than fifty miles. 1
