Researching the: ALEXANDER, CLARK, COVERSTON, DICKERSON, DILLMAN, FESLER, FREE, GETROST, HEATON,HILLIGOSS, JOHNSON, LAUMEIER, LAUMEYER, SPENCER,THOMAS,URMSTON,WALKER & WANGELIN Families of Indiana plus many others. ALEXANDER line originates in Cecil Co., Maryland with James Alexander and Rosanna Chambers in the early 1700's.I believe this James may be one of the decedents of the seven brothers who came over from Scotland via Ireland, no solid proof yet and may be totally in left field.James and Rosanna had at leastthree children; Rowland, Allen and Margaret. Rowland (b. Sept 12, 1740 in Cecil Co. MD) married Eleanor Murdoch (b. Sept. 10, 1753) in 1776 somewhere in North Carolina. This family moved on to Burke county, possibly Rowan county first,North Carolina, they had at least seven children; James, Joseph, William, Jane,Zaccheus, John and Mary. There is a report of a Rowland Alexander owning land in Burke Co. in 1780 but not much else.James along with Rowland went to Mason Co. KY around 1800. James married Mary (Polly) Payne in Mason Co. KY on January 01, 1801.They later removed to Fleming county Kentucky, Elizaville, then on into Rush county, Indiana, around 1825.James and Mary had 14 children who have spread out all over Indiana and the rest of the country. My particular line came up to Madison County Indiana in 1865 where the Alexander families settled in and around Madison Co., Frankton, Indiana.I have a fair amount of information and biographical sketches on the Alexander family but have not been able to get beyond James in Cecil Co., Maryland.Would appreciate any information that would help fill in the holes and am more than happy trade information.Alexander migration route: Cecil Co. MD > Burke Co. NC > Mason Co. KY > Fleming Co. KY > Rush Co. IN > Madison Co. IN CLARK line originated supposedly from England, coming to Virginia around the 1800's, I have not been able to substantiate this as of yet.My gg-grandfather was Thomas G. Clark born in Madison Co. Virginia April 05, 1811, he came with his parents to Wayne Co. Indiana around 1835.Unknown at this time if the family stopped on their way from Virginiafor a time before getting to Indiana.Thomas had at least a brother, James Madison Clark b. abt 1817 in Virgina. He settled in Greenfield Indiana and had 8 children, James may have lived in Fayette Co. Indiana for a short time. Thomas was a school teacher in his early days and a farmer and politician later in life.He had four sons; Alfred H. my g-grandfather of Madison Co. Indiana (farmer), Silas W. of Wayne Co. Indiana (farmer), Franklin P. of Wood Co. Ohio, North Baltimore area(Druggist & store owner), and Joseph L. ofKansas possibly Topeka.Would love to find out who Thomas's parents were and from where the came from and also what happened to Joseph in Kansas.Clark migration route: England? > Madison Co. VA > Wayne Co. IN > Madison Co. IN LAUMEYER/LAUMEIER line comes from around Hanover Germany starting with Hermann Heinrich Laumeier and Anna Elesabeth Sparenberg. They had at least three children;Frederick Adolph, Herman H. andHerman Wilhelm all from near Osnabruck, Hanover Germany area. Most of this family imigrated to the U.S. around 1884 possibly coming through Ellis Island.
