The various projects that encompass this website are inspired by the indomitable spirit of my Grandmother, Barbara Denning Steinruck Kelley, who started to do family research even though she could not drive back in the 1930s. The old family joke forever was that, if you let Barbara into your car, you will literally end up in a cemetery. She passed on her intense interest and passion for family history to my parents, John and Carole Amtsfield, my sister Carole Faust and to myself. I am also grateful for the support of my loving wife, Linda. This memorial is dedicated to the memory of my grandmother, Barbara Denning Steinruck Kelley (1896-1972), to my mother, Carole Amtsfield and to my father,my brother and sisters, my beloved wife and all of our children. Family is forever.
This is an ongoing work project, so some of the listed data is preliminary and constitutes simply my working notes. This data is being submitted on this website to facilitate security of the data and prevent catastrophic loss from having the data stored in only one place. It is alsopublished mindful of my declining health, my own mortality and with a sincere desire to share with other researchers who have an interest in these families. I am in essence passing the torch for future researchers to continue the search, to make additions and corrections. Databases on World Family Trees, Rootsweb.com and/or Ancestry.com is updated and most current database is listed as "Jamts" or "Amtsfield". Please contact for additions and/or corrections. Note that names with an asterisk before the name denote probable/possible connections made from secondary sources and await primary evidence to confirm or dispute.
Probably 90% of this research was done, pre-computer, between 1970-1984. In 1984 I took a position that monopolized my time and retired in 2002 with illness. In mid-2003, I started to organize all of my surviving notes and files into the data that is enclosed. It is impossible to accomplish this much research alone. Although the suppositions are mine and, therefore, any errors that result are mine and mine alone; any success this work is able to achieve is due in large measure to researchers with whom I have worked, collaborated and sourced, as follows: Howard G. Roshon (Baltimore, Ohio); S. Duane Kauffman (Perkasie, PA); Carole Faust (Fairview Village, PA); Barbara Denning Steinruck Kelley; Carole and John Amtsfield (Perkiomenville, PA); Mrs. Clifford (Edna) Steinruck (Parkerford, PA); George Gear (Trooper, PA); Robert Stonerock (Nashport, Ohio); Carl Roshong (Pataskala, Ohio); Marvin Roshong (Lansdale, PA); Frederick R.
