Anna Kennedy passed away, 26 May 1923, 5 months after the birth of her last child, a son, Milton Archibald Joseph Armstrong, who was born on December 14th, 1922. Her passing left Archibald, her husband, with the care of their four young children, Eileen, Mildred, Kenneth and Milton, ranging in age from 5months old to 7 years old. Archibald must have received a great deal of assistance from his wife’s relatives, as they lived very close by to their home on Bell Street. Anna’s sisters, Bella, Kathleen and Mary Kennedy living on Eccles Street along with Anna’s brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Annie Kennedy also living on Eccles Street. Even though Archie remained a Presbyterian, he ensured that all of his children were properly schooled with a strict Roman Catholic upbringing.
