Obituary Munising News 9 Oct 1996:Funeral services were held Tuesday, October
8, 1996 at the Sacred Heart Church for Carol June Monette, age 65, of Munising.
Father Raymond F. Moncher and Father Gregory R. Heikkala officiated and
interment was in the Maple Grove Cemetery.Mrs. Monette died at home, October
6, following a six year illness.She was born June 1, 1931 in AuTrain.She
was a lifetime Munising resident.She was the daughter of Frank and Marvel
(Bovan) Doucette.She attended Munising and Adrian schools.Carol graduated
from the William G. Mather High School in 1949.She married Joe Monette on
June 24, 1950.She worked at the soda fountain counter at Putvin's.She
babysat children in her home for many years and she also worked at the Peoples
Store for over 10 years.Carol was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in
Munising and of St. Therese Catholic Church in AuTrain, the National Catholic
Society of Foresters, and the St. Anthony's Guild.She enjoyed knitting,
fishing, piano playing, shopping, and bowling.She painted Artex paintings and
loved to be with and talk to her grandchildren who called her "Gramma
Chicken".Survivors include:her husband Joe of Munising; daughters &
sons-in-law; Judy & Joe Pavlica of Morrice, Mi; Durae & Tim Tiernan of
Munising; and Brenda Bowerman of Munising: sons & daughters-in-law; Jim & Kim
Monette of Munising; Dana & Robin Monette of Williamston, Mi; mother &
step-father, Marvel & Frank Campbell of Autrain; 17 grandchildren; 1
great-grandson; sisters, Joyce Chartrand of Niceville, Fl; Darlene "Dolly"
Revord of Munising; brother & sister-in-law, Arnold "Duke" & Lois Doucette of
Christmas; step-sister, Carol Campbell of AuTrain; also numerous nieces and
nephews.Carol was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Authur Monette
on August 29, 1964, a grandson, Jamison Christopher Monette on Dec 19, 1972;
her father, Frank Doucette on March 22, 1977; a son-in-law, Leonard
"Smoie" Gurski on Feb 5, 1977, and step-brother, Wes Campbell on Jan 4, 1996.
Had Diabetes, died of kidney failure, was on dialysis for a number of years.
