Your ancestor James Smith signed the Declaration of Independence.He was from Pennsylvania.His Father, John, migrated to Pennsylvania, 1729, Chester county.John purchased a tract of land west of the Susquehana River in York county 1729, attended school under Rev. Francis Alison - studies Latin, Greek, and surveying and then read law in the office of the elder Brother George at Lancaster - then lived in York.Protestant and married 1760 to Eleanor, daughter of John Armor of New Castle, Delaware.My Grandfather Henry T. Smith, Protestant, was my Mother’s Father and had a son George A. Smith and daughter Jennie Smith, who married Franklin Arnsberger, who moved to Brailey, Fulton County, Ohio and into Swancreek Township south side of Wabash railroad and east of Brailey Road.He built blacksmith shop, woodworking shop, and Hip Roof barn which he used for grist mill and storage of lumber for his own shop.Hobby was Black Minorca Chickens.Three acre tract of land.He learned horse shoeing, Doctor of Hoofs and spelled his name Frank Arnsberger, Dr.He took veterinary course in Fort Wayne, Indiana, while studying blacksmithing .Later he learned all about wood and built his shop and put in the machines to shape and form buggy and wagon wheels.Graders he dated first ones for filling trenches, ditches, grading lawns and pulled by horses.He too was staunch Protestant and helped move a church to Brailey and the pastor was a United Brethren and liked my Dad.My father died in Brailey, Ohio, November 1908, was 27 years old.He had typhoid fever6-7 weeks, doctor and trained nurse.Birthday July 4th was my fathers birthday, Henry T. Smith, married Hattie Hiett, Scotch.
