(NOTE: THere are a few publishing errors in the books that will be corrected with the publisher on the revised edition.)|
I have dedicated this site and the family research to my mother Joyce who I lost in 1993, my father Vincent who I lost in 2004, my sister Nancy, who I lost in 2005, and most of all, my co-author, "Uncle Tony", who I lost in 2011.Without him, this project would have never seen the light of day.Loosing my sister in 2005 was one the most difficult things I have ever experienced. She was my only sister, and the last of my immediate family. This project and this website has been therapeutic for me and helped me keep the memories of my entire family fresh in my heart.
My sincerest thanks to everyone for sharing their information and working with me to create and maintain this website.Especially my new found German family (Hubert & Anna Vinke, Stefan and Barbara Dauwe) and Herr Stegmann (Genealogist) in Borgloh, Germany.Their warm hospitality will never be forgotten and their generosity with the family information took this project to the next level...and allowed us to document our family back to 1575.
All in all, this has been a great project. Traveling to Borgloh Germany (where our Arszman (Ahsmann/Arsmann/Aszmann) ancestors originated) finding the original farm my G-G-G Grandfather (Joseph) and John Caspar left to come to the U.S.; meeting the direct descendents of their older brother George Heinrich Ahsmann (The Vinke's) and being fortunate to be invited to attend the baptism of their new grand-daughter and attend a Bar-B-Q on the original farm where our ancestors lived!!!.This trip has instilled in me a deep love for Borgloh Germany, my "new family" and a strong appreciation for my heritage. We were also able to confirm information that takes my bloodline back to 1575 A.D. to Wellingholzhausen, Germany to the surname WENCKE. (We learned how and why Surnames changed from Wencke to Arszman over the years.)
The research has shown that our family (ARSZMAN, ARSZMANN, ARZMAN, ASZMANN, ARSMANN, AHSMANN, AHSMAN) has resided mainly in OHIO, INDIANA and CALIFORNIA (we know there are other states, but these seem to hold the bulk of us). I would appreciate ANY help with this project and will be glad to share what we have to help someone else....
In 1990 while I was compiling the final portions of the ARSZMAN, ARSZMANN, ARZMAN, ASZMANN, ARSMANN, AHSMANN, AHSMAN information, my mother asked me if I could look into the Ritchie Line for her.I started this project and traced her directly to Isaac Ritchie 1766-1843.Since I was knee deep in the Arszman Project, I was only able to validate her DIRECT line to Isaac with proper documentation before my mother passed in 1993. I did not validate any other Ritchie branch since her passing.I have since stopped this project. On this web site you will find many links to other branches of the Ritchie line (with various Spellings), but these branches and information are from other sites and other researchers. I have chosen not followed up on, or to validate or verify any of their data.If they can provide me with a document, that they claim validates their data, I accepted it face value and saved it.There are probably errors in many of these links so take this information not in my directly line with a grain of salt. The direct line of my mother is verified with copies of documents and some I have actual documents in my file to validate my information.
Enjoy the site and my research!!!
