DEATH NOTICE - VERNON EDWARD SHIMP
Vernon Edward Shimp, age 38, of Croton, passed away Sunday, April 20, at 3:58 p.m. At Newark Hospital, Mt. Vernon, five hours after he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage.
Mr. Shimp was a member of the V.F.W. of Mt. Vernon and had served with the Army Engineers during World War II and had seen service overseas in the South Pacific.
He was employed by Fred Kreutz Construction working at Technical Rubber at Johnstown.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Shimp of Croton; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Brady of Galion, Mrs. Frances Bolton of Sunbury; three brothers Frank of Centerberg, Route 2, Fred of Johnstown and William of Ft. Wayne, Ind. Three sisters are deceased, Mrs. Margaret Staggers, Florence Shimp and Pearl Evans. Two brothers are also deceased, Charles and Edward. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Snyder-Melick Funeral Home in Centerburg. Burial was made in Hartford Cemetery with Rev. Richard Graves officiating.
