Henry Chamberlain emigrated to New England, probably from the parish of Wyndham near Hingham, County Norfolk, England. He arrived at Boston or Charlestown, Mass. on the ship 'Diligent' of Ipswich, England on April 10, 1638. He brought with him his wife, four children and his mother, the widow Christian Chamberlain. His mother died on April 19, 1659 at age 81 in Hingham, Mass. Henry was admitted as a freeman in Hingham on March 13, 1639. He afterward settled in the town of Hull, Mass. A writ was issued against his son John on March 25, 1660 for venting his wretched opinions in the Charlestown Meeting house. He was imprisoned and later went to Newport, RI. At Henry's death his estate included a five acre lot in Hingham, a lot at Old Planters Hill and ten acres on the plain. Chamberlains Run, near Rocky Hill, probably took its name from him.( Ancestry of Adelia Chamberlain Harding pp. 1-7)[v22t0321.ftw]
