Notes for Marie Marguerite Mius D'Entremont:
From The Acadian Miracle: "To the east, at the end of the Bay of
Fundy, about 70 miles from Port Royal, opened the Basin of Minas, so
named because of the copper mines found there.About 1680, Pierre
Melanson, who had been Chief of the Militia at Port Royal, with his
wife [UL: Marguerite Mius :UL] (daughter of Phillippe Mius
d'Entremont), and their seven children, moved to the fertile lands of
"la Grand Pre" (the large meadow), in the Basin of Minas. A little
later, there also came Pierre Terriau, Claude Landry, Antione Landry,
and Rene LeBlanc, whose wife was Anne Bourgeois, and who was the
father of the Notary Rene LeBlanc of Grand Pre's later history. They
settled in the neighboring territory of the same basin.(Antoine
Bernard, "Le Drame Acadien," Montreal 1936.)"
